When Joseph's silver cup is activated (all currently activated artifacts must remain activated), what happens when a discard artifact card is played (on an artifact other than JSC)? Destruction of Nehushistan (discard and negate an artifact) and strange fire (discard evil character to discard artifact, can't be negated) for two examples.

They work normally. JSC just locks all active artifacts into being activated again on their owner's Prep phase.

Agree.  The two parts of JSC are to protect active artifacts from deactivated and restricting any in pile from being activated.  It says nothing on discard or negation, and so that can happen.

If JSC is up and an artifact is discarded (not JSC), then that pile cannot activate another artifact, but it can still get discarded.

So JSC is basically saying that all artifact abilities remain active, as a discarded artifact still has its abilities active until next prep phase.

Or something. I think I just made it more confusing. But it makes sense in my head.

Or wait- it's just saying that players can't activate a new artifact, but currently activated artifacts can be discarded. I think I got it.
