Meaningless!
Evil dominant

Discard any card in play, set aside, in deck, discard pile or Land of Redemption with a 2 John reference

Ecclesiastes 1:2 "Meaningless! Meaningless!"
       says the Teacher.
       "Utterly meaningless!
       Everything is meaningless."

I'd like the card image to be the Redemption logo divided by zero.  Don't feel like making the full 'shoop.

Meaningless 3: Protect all lost souls from rescue for three turns. Decrease all characters in play by X.
X = number of no special ability O.T. human heroes in your territory.

So, what exactly happens when you discard a card already in the discard pile?

a = b
a – b = 0
(a – b)/(a – b) = 0 / (a-b)
1*2 = 0*2
2=0

(a – b)/(a – b) = 0 / (a-b)
1*2 = 0*2
2=0

I'm doubting some of your transitions in that equality.  Let me try:

a = b
a^2 = ab
a^2 - b^2 = ab - b^2
Factor difference of squares...
(a - b)(a + b) = b(a-b)
Divide by common denominator...
a + b = b
Substitute b for a, since a = b...
b + b = b
2b = b
2 = 1

It's not quite 2 = 0, but with a little manipulation, you could probably get there  :)

And here we have the problem.  (a-b)(a+b) is really a^2 - 2ab - b^2.  You are missing the middle term.
Oops, that must be why I teach science and not math.

(a - b)(a + b) = b(a-b)
Divide by common denominator...
a + b = b
There's the real problem.  The "common denominator" there is (a-b) which is 0 based on the given that a=b.  Therefore you are dividing by zero which is impossible.  Very nicely done though :)

Not quite.  Using FOIL method:
(a + b)(a - b) = a^2  - ab + ab - b^2
Combine like terms...
a^2 - b^2

Bonus points go to the person who can name the flaw in my equality  :)

Congratulations to browarod and Prof U for solving the riddle!  browarod was first, so he wins 9001 bonus points.  Unfortunately bonus points are pretty much worthless; in fact, they are worth $-1/20th of one cent, meaning you now owe me $4.50.
