If you do, I will reserve one of my 3 ots games for you this week. This is my last month for awhile so it will be fun playing new opponents (even on aim).

since we r now doing random draw i fell like we should have 1 root network insted of 3 cuz that would be easier to get in contact with each other but only have it open to those that r playing that month

I would love to do this, but unfortunately Hamachi groups can only have 16 people in them, and there are more players than that in ROOT each month.  I am currently working with some people to see if we can find a better alternative than Hamachi, but so far nothing has worked out.

Hey,

I would like to see a system implemented in which games must be played by Sunday night.  Games must be reported by Noon on Monday.  Tentative pairings are posted Monday night.  And pairings are made official Tuesday Morning.

I also think it would be best to allow for scoring changes to be made after the official pairings for the next week are set.  These scoring changes would not change the pairings, just the point totals.  Any such change would be at the discretion of those in change and could be denied if the judge feels the player did not take adequate action to get the correct point total before pairings for the next week were set.

The transition from week to week this month was notably clunky.  I believe these changes would help smooth things out (I also expect a lot of the clunk will be eliminated simply from the fact that next month it won't be a new system anymore.)

Hey,

I would like to see the "face" of the management team for any given month be an individual that is not participating in ROOT that month.  I am okay with Prof, SS, and Gabe working together to decide rule changes and major decisions even if some of them are affected as players, but I think it would be best if the individual "running" ("judging" if you will) the event for the month was not participating in it.

If the three of you took turns running things you would each still be able to participate in ROOT for 2/3 of the year.  I'd be willing to take a turn "running" things if you'd like to bump that up to 3/4 (although I do not want to become a part of ROOT management).

I agree with this, and I also would volunteer to help manage a tournament every few months or so. This way, there would be one person who could make decisions about potential conflicts without being biased as to how it would affect their standing.

I like where you're going with this.  I can't see any reason that people shouldn't have their scores reported by Sunday night.  It only takes a moment to post your score after you play so even late games on Sunday night can be posted and all scores will be available by Monday morning.

When I'm doing pairings it's reasonable to have them posted by 7AM Tuesday morning.  Those pairings can be official and if there are corrections to the scores we don't have to change them if that's what people woudl prefer.

The transition from week to week this month was notably clunky.

I'm sorry, this was 90% my fault.

I agree.

As always, thanks for your suggestions, Tim.

suggestion: can root games be awarded the same points all throughout the month just like a normal redemption swiss tournament? i dont think its particularly fair that making top cut majorly rests on winning the week before championship week, despite a person that isnt in the top cut having the same record as most individuals that are. this also essentially awards a player that has been playing all month nothing extra if they lose during said week; however, it can potentially award a player that has not even played week 1 or week 2 because of the larger margin of points. shouldnt a player that has stuck all through-out the tournament be rewarded most, as opposed to the latter?

I agree with MKC, I brought up this same point last month. The point of the scoring system as is is to promote participation, by allowing those who join later the same chance as everyone else, but we don't generally add players mid-month anyway.
