Required Cards for Every Deck

I have a few questions about the cards being put in my deck. I recently attended my first tournment, and through that experience and through talking to others, I have learned that there are certain cards that should be in every deck, regardless of brigade color. So my questions are these:

1) I was told that there are seven lost souls that should be in every deck. What are they?

2) Besides the standard four Dominants (Angel of the Lord, Burial, Christian Martyr, and Son of God), and besides New Jerusalem, what are some other cards that sould be in every deck?

3) Finally, obviously it's hard to have certain cards in every deck, considering that not every card can be played with every brigade. So what type of cards should be in every deck? For instance, it's pretty obvious that every deck should have some kind of negate cards. But are there any other type of cards that should be in there?

Thanks!

Here are the cards that I think EVERY deck needs. Everything else is optional. Also, I listed the lost souls below that I commonly see.

Son of God
New Jerusalem
Angel of the Lord
Christian Martyr

Hopper (not counted in the 7)
Lost Souls (2 line)
Shuffler
Revealer
NT Only
Female Only
Anti-Burial
Wanderer (Also known as Switcher, Poser, Hater, etc)

These lost souls can change based on what kind of deck you're using, most common example being sites. I would assume with the new lost souls coming out there will be much more variation, but this is the most common set-up I've seen.

Here's some very common cards for all of my T1 2P decks:

Son of God
New Jerusalem
Angel of the Lord
Christian Martyr
Burial
Destruction of Nehushtan
Wall of Protection
King of Tyrus
Captured Ark
Unknown Nation
Blue Tassels
1-2 Heroes with banding abilities
1-2 Evil Characters with banding abilities
1-2 FBTN Heroes
Exchanger LS
Revealer LS
Female LS
NT LS

Fortress Alstad
Have you checked the REG?
Have you looked it up in ORCID?

Here's some cards that I would recommend for almost any T1 2P deck:

Son of God
New Jerusalem
Angel of the Lord
Christian Martyr
Destruction of Nehushtan
Wall of Protection
Captured Ark
Kingdoms of the World

Exchanger LS
Revealer LS
Anti-burial LS
Demon-discard LS
1st round protect LS

my staples are...

SoG
NJ
AotL
GoyS
CM
Burial
FA
DoN
N.T. Ls
Womans Ls
Wanderer Ls
Revealer Ls
G Cow
Plagued with Diseases.

Here are the cards that I think EVERY deck needs.

Hopper (not counted in the 7)
Lost Souls (2 line)

Personally... these two have only been nuscances to me. The two-liner almost ALWAYS gives them two points, and the hopper is almost ALWAYS Harvest Time'd. Because of this, I choose to leave them out out of almost every deck I build.

Well, I think there are five dominants almost essential for every deck:

SoG
NJ
AoL
CM
FA

GoyS, DoN, and Burial are also pretty important, but not necessarily necessary. The three most important lost souls are the Female, NT, and 4+. (Plus, I think the Lost Souls and the Hopper are extremely useful.)

I would disagree. I always include DoN, but only sometimes include falling away. Also i think the 2 line is more important than the 4+.  Oh well everyone has their opinions.

in my experiences I have always hated the 4+. It's just a lost soul that does nothing and can't be rescued by a dominant.

son of god
new jerusalem
don
falling away
guardian
christian martyr
burial
angel of the lord

2-line
female
NT
wanderer
anti-burial
1st round
revealer

unholy writ
chariot of fire

yeah, those are most. I'll update if I can think of more... I'll have to look at my deck.

no, you want to be able to rescue your own lost souls so that your opponenet never has the chance.

:amen: I couldn't agree more.  if you have hormah, you absolutely must have the site doubler, so if one of your human ec's dies, horman & its contents are placed under draw pile.  i once did it to a guy 4 times in one game, but torment saved me...once :D

Exactly! You don't want to have only lost souls that everyone has access to just so that you can rescue them yourself! Besides, there are only two lost souls in the game that are immune to SoG and NJ (the 4+ and the NT), so you still have at least five other self-rescuable lost souls if you have those two in your deck.

In my opinion, I have never once slowed someone down with that lost soul. They attack with tsa, phineus, joshua the high priest, heck anyone, and it rarely stops them. And even if it does hold them back, they will just attack with a different hero so that they can rescue it. I prefer lost souls that are more usefull and in despereate situation I can use son of god and new jerusalem to rescue them. But that's just me.:)

I have come across a position once where my opponent would have used spy to make a rescue, but chose another hero because of that lost soul, and thus I was able to set fire to his territory with Ashpenaz....Just sayin'. ::)

right, and it can come in handy, but i find that other lost souls can be more usefull than that one. I don't find it a "required card", which is what this thread is all about.

Ever thought about combining it with decreasers such as Plagued with Diseases?

Also... its an awesome card because it can help stop initiative characters.

Its actually helped me fend of quite a few RAs.
