Hormah--FoOF Set IV
Asher--RoA Set XIV
Benjamin--FoOF Set IV
Simeon--FoOF Set X
Zebulun--FoOF Set X
Answer to Prayer--FoOF Set IV
Jacob Buries the Foreign Gods--RoA Set XIV
Reuben's Torn Clothes--FoOF Set X
Gold Shield--RoA Set XIII

That should help you out. If you do go with a tin, you should definitely go with Set IV. That gives you three of the cards you may not have, and it has the best cards that you could use to trade for others: Uzzah, Jacob, etc.

Matthew may draw up to X cards (limit 3).

Thaddeus protects all cards in play, set-aside area, Artifact piles, hands, and decks from Evil Characters with toughness X or less (cannot be interrupted).

This article was full of very...discreet spoilers. Wink My favorite cards so far are the heroes. It looks like Disciples will have no trouble staying pretty much at the hand limit the whole game, what with Matthew, Fishing Boat, and Reach of Desperation. And Thaddeus...wow. That looks like the most powerful hero in the game. I hope we get some high defense EC's and/or more ways to prevent hero SA's, or else this dude will decimate.

Tank you, Bryon, for the amazing articles you've made! This looks like it is going to be the best Redemption set ever! I am very much looking forward to playing with the new themes from this set. Smiley

Yeah, I don't think theft is anywhere near likely - I had my whole deck after I came back from Nationals 08, and then I never played with it again, it just stayed in my closet. I had other copies of all but 5 of those cards (site discard LS and some FOOF stuff), so maybe I'll find someone to borrow those cards from for the day. (Or, if they're all in the same tin, I can just buy another copy of the tin.)

Offense
First-sorry you can only have three Covenant of Moses's
Second-you have four different heroes and half of them aren't Genesis so Zebby won't work.
Third-i'd suggest a couple Tribal Elders to make the Jacob/Captain band worth using in two player.
Fourth-x5 of all your unique heroes means a lot of discarding heroes. maybe take out a couple Zebbs because 5 of them will not be useful.
Fifth-Some Doms might help

Defense
First-Babby's are the bomb.
That's it!

Doms-4

Burial
Christian Martyr
Falling Away
Destruction of Nehustian

Forts-3

Headquarters at Riblahx3

Curses-2

Go into Captivityx2

Evil Characters-15

Nergalx3
Nebbyx4
Nebushasbanx3
Babylonian Forcesx2
The Winged Lion
Ashpenaz
The Imperial Guard

Evil Enhancements-16

Swift Horsesx4
Head of Goldx4
Belshazzar's Banquetx3
Nebby's Dreamx3
Carried Into Exilex2

Just to clarify though, if an enhancement played by your opponent directly affects you/your territory/set-aside, you CAN play a negate or interrupt if YOU don't have initiative, but only if it affects your stuff?

Thanks,

-C_S

Actually, you only get inish to play an interrupt or negate if your character in battle is being effected by an opponent's enhancement.  They are free to whale on your territory/deck/set aside without you being able to play anything.

I liked the previous review on all the sets, helped me understand somethings. In either case, both of these view points are just options and there's no right or wrong, but Polarius does make logical sense to me. I just wouldn't make bold, absolute statements like "NEVER", "WILL", "NO DOUBT". Neither of you can prove your view points.  Don't get me wrong, I would love to see Redemption surpass MTG for many reasons.

I am a former MTG player saved by the grace of God. Wizards of the Coast has a huge infrastructure or network of support for competitive play, after all, they birthed the industry. They have that advantage.  Man, it would be like a dream come true to see Cactus get that big. Have counter-MTG Pro-Tour like tournaments. Or say a tournament that raises money for a ministry or a missions. I just think it's tricky to foster tournaments that aren't competitive because as believer's we're not supposed be contentious yet its in our nature (flesh) to be competitive. The Hebrew word  "מדון" pronounced "madown" literally means contest. Our English word Strife derives from madown. There's tons of scripture that forbid strife and I will gladly find those scriptures if someone wants the reference. I'm confident that's why Cactus's sanctioned tournaments that focus on fun & fellowship and not defeating your fellow man.

Better prizes would be cool vs booster packs, but I understand some tournament host contribute to prize support.  Bless their hearts.
